The Serenity of the Night

I gaze upon the heavens
In search for answers to my soul
I stare out to the stars
As far as my sight will go
Although the sky gives no answer
I feel as though I have learned something
I feel the peace
That the night has to offer
I reach out into the darkness
And offer my hand
Waiting!
For the night to pull me away
But I am still here
And I feel as though I have learned something
Patience
Serenity
And love
For the face of the night is a good teacher
Each time I look into her eyes
I never walk away empty handed
Always adding to the knowledge I have
And as the sun begins to rise
I walk away
Feeling as though
I have just lost something
