Mother Moon, my heart is yours
the world is empty around me
I belong with the stars, celestial
this is not for me
and when I see you, surrounded
in twinkling twilight, starlight stippled
in the night
I wish I was an angel with wings
so I could fly right up to you
and look down upon the earth
the way the heavens do
but I am a mortal man
without wings, without chance
I will never swim in infinite
to touch the moon, the stars, the planets
Mother Moon,
shining me moonbeams of misery
heavenly reminder of the empty
this world has given me
