Fading Love

so sad how you
simply faded away
feels so strange to think
I was so in love with you
yesterday
I guess someplace
you still mean something
but your special spot in my heart
now replaced with nothing
gone are the tears
that came before I slept
gone are the days
where your name I wept

I heard your voice
in the winds
in the soft summer breeze
to autumns misty rain
I found my self bedside on my knees
praying for new days, showing of ways
I could be released, from your pain

I died a thousand
slow deaths for you
all in your memories name
I cried countless tears of blue
still, I loved you just the same

I watched me from
here to there
as time-lines were etched upon my face
found my refuge from your love
at the bottom of many bottles
yet somehow I knew would end up in this place

I reached out some
nights at times
felt anothers touch
but it always hurt too much
she tried to heal my many scars
never knowing she wouldn’t get very far
she whispered softly in my ear
“What in the world happened here?”
I just looked away
answering with only a silent tear
Some ways
We were forever lasting
For some days
just in passing
I smell your perfume
recall your tune
turn to whisper your name
but you along with our song
my love, are way long since gone

Many thanks to Dennis Hicks for helping me finish this one
