Winter Remembers

All I remember is the cold
And the eerie gray of the clouds
That lingered like metallic cotton
All else I have forgotten
In the dusk of love and death
The crispity crunch of dry leaves
Killed by the season, killed by the wind
Lost where footsteps begin
And you know what you have come here to do
To give me the winter of my soul
Leaving me empty
Like a tree with no leaves
