I wake up again
\nsame time every night
\nSame damn dream.
\nI am running through the shadows
\nand no matter how dark it is
\nthey can still see me
\nstill chase me down
\nThen there is the door
\nOut of nowhere and bright as the sun
\nI think if I can just make it to the door
\neverything will be all right

\nbut the darkness begins to collapse
\nand constrict

\nFeels like paint
\nmidnight acrylic… or jello

\nits slowing me down
\nand I know if they catch me, I’m going to die
\nBut I am almost at the door
\nand I can see it much clearer now
\nbeautiful
\nluminous
\nin this tranquil blue glow
\nI can feel my heart pounding
\nI can actually hear the blood
\npumping through my veins
\nAn echoing reminder of the pain
\nOut in the distance there is a howling
\nlike a bunch of street dogs
\nor a pack of hungry wolves
\nI turn around to see where it is coming from and I trip
\nThe ground is warm, moist, slimy like algae
\nI look down to see what it is
\nand why its so warm
\nI scream at the realization that its blood red
\nmoving, pulsing
\nwith each breath I take
\nIts not just soaked in blood
\nthe ground is made out of flesh
\nI’m lost inside something that is alive
\nIf I can just make it to that door
\nI know everything will be fine
\nAlmost there
\nI can feel the glow around me now
\nbut instead of the expected feeling of safeness
\nI feel hands, tiny little hands
\npulling me back away from the light
\nThen their teeth as they clutch into my flesh
\nunforgiving and relentless
\nThe howling stops
\nI scream.
\nWaking up, realizing that its all over.
\nAnd like every night before
