Earth Day, Birth Day

Genetic mismatch
Human being riff raft
Infecting this world
Dissecting this world
When will it end
This madness of society
Weeding out variety
Like weeding out the rain forests
Entire species gone
So some bucket-head can build a bigger home
While other plants and animals
Vector on the edge of extinction
The price of our progression
Is their destruction
Earth first
But not in the birth
Of people
And the people virus
Genetic mismatch
Pathetic human riff raft
When someone said
“This is OUR world”
It wasn’t meant to be literal
Or even trilateral
This may be our world
But it belongs to all of creation
Not just humanity
So before you start with your profanity
Spitting and cursing
Try a little bit of compassion
And feel the passion that it will bring
Flowers will grow
Birds will sing
Spring will rain
Summer will fall into autumn
And leave behind a legacy of memories
To beautiful for words
So think twice about what I say
Do the world a favor
And plant a tree on Earth Day
